Achievements
- As part of the Government of Quebec’s Volunteer Lake-Monitoring Program (VLMP), our network of volunteers carry out sample collections in order to assess the health of the lakes.
- Update of the health records for the lakes in Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs
- Update of ABVLACS’s actions identified in the master plans of the six large lakes in Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs: Guindon, des Seigneurs, Saint-Amour, Marois, Ouimet and Parent
- Creation of an inventory of indigenous aquatic plants and checking the aquatic exotic invasive plants on 19 lakes
- Implementation of a pilot project to measure periphyton, an additional parameter to rate the health of our lakes
- Educational activities for young people at the four community summer camps
- The Ouimet Project: Supporting the Lac Ouimet Project regarding the significant variations of the lake’s water levels
- Creation of an awareness/information package designed for tenants in Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs
Future Plans
- Continue raising awareness of the imminent dangers of Eurasian water-milfoil and aquatic exotic invasive plants and species
- Install a washing station for all watercraft
- Conduct an inventory of the aquatic fauna in our lakes
- Continue the educational activities for young people at the summer camps and through this website
